His hugely-anticipated debut solo album Mind of Mine was released on Thursday -- a year to the day he sent shockwaves through the music world by leaving One Direction.
And Zayn Malik, 23, spent the evening in New York to celebrate, stepping out for dinner in a stylish maroon leather jacket which he teamed with an eye-catching t-shirt and black jeans.
The rugged singer rocked a shaved head and a well-groomed beard, and posed for pictures with adoring fans on his way to the eatery.

Zayn's fans took to social media in their droves following the release of Mind of Mine.
Support for the heartthrob was overwhelming, with many backing his new direction, however there were also hilarious memes poking fun at the timing of the album drop.

Zayn also dropped a music video heavy on realism for his new promotional single.
The singer had a subdued starring role in the video for BeFoUr that mostly featured everyday life scenes.
The video opened with a shot of the new album cover in mural form followed by Zayn driving around on a rainy day with buddies.

The former One Direction star belted out a dramatically high note in the soulful R&B tune as the regular day suddenly turned into nighttime bonfire dance party near a vehicle engulfed in flames.

Zayn also released his debut album Mind Of Mine on Thursday night on the one-year anniversary of his departure from One Direction.

Zayne previously released the promo single It's You and its music video on February 25.

Zayn previously was a member of the English-Irish boy band One Direction that was formed in 2010 during the British singing competition show The X Factor.
One Direction released four albums with Zayn and a fifth album in November 2015 with the remaining founding members Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The group has been on hiatus since January.
Zayn since November 2015 has been dating 20-year-old model Gigi Hadid.
